How long should you spend writing lyrics and perfecting it. I'm curious. i have wrote seven so far. it takes me from a few days to a few weeks. I do a draft and then correct it and then type it and then correct and edit. I have also read that a typical song is between 3 to 4 min as well. Thanks.

The easy answer is "as long as it takes". I think it also depends on how perfect you want your lyrics to be. I mostly write lyrics because I need something to sing/rap over my music so, while my lyrics always start out as a poem, there's always a degree to which I just say, "that'll do." I'm not looking for perfection, though I am trying to express my own voice and usually make a point. At the very least I make sure there are no lines in it that make me cringe.
