G.rongi

G.rongi is a famous and outstanding Kenyan hip hop artist, activist and poet. He is a member and co-founder of Mau Mau Camp, a Mau Mau Warriors afiliated hip hop trust. In 2014 he smashed Kenyan hip hop scene with his single "Mokorino", a first Kenyan hip hop song in Kikuyu language which aims to promote peace, forgiveness and tolerance. His second solo album "Position ya Power" was released in May 2015. The same year, he released also the first book written in Sheng ( a Swahili slang spoken in Nairobi) "Lafudhi Hip Hop Poetry in Sheng" – a book containing his authobiography and poems.

G.rongi has collaborated with international renowned artists: Dead Prez (Red Black and Green song), Didier Awadi¸ Juliani, Nazizi, Susan Owiyo & Kalamashaka. He has worked also with renowned African writers Ngugi wa Thiong’o, Binyavanga Wainaina, Ali Al'amin Mazrui and Ayi Kwei Armah.
