Da Funk Junkies

Da Funk Junkies are a funky house duo who formed in in 2007, they are made up of two brothers, Nick and Darren Mears. They have been producing since 2005, mainly producing funky house and progressive house. Between them they have over 50 years of dj experience. Playing at various venues around the UK south coast, and further up country,along with various boat and fort parties. Winning some DJ competitions in the past, they were renound for their dj skills before turning their hand to producing. They also successfully ran their own night on the UK’s South Coast in Portsmouth. Well known for amazing scratching abilities, with both Nick and Darren working the crowd they are a formidible force! Their certain style when they play out can only be described as "proper funkee house”, which is reflected in their production. All their basslines and guitar riffs in their mixes are played by themselves on bass and electric guitar which gives a 'real' feel to their style. With their first remix out in 2007 on Fizzeek records of Steve Haines' Free 2 Be their hunger for producing good quality funky house music has grown and grown! With them taking a break from production in 2011 due to work commitments, now in 2018 they are now more determined than ever to break onto the House music scene, and are definitely ones to look out for in the future! They have had releases on House Sound of LA ( HSOLA) compilations, their debut EP and some singles were released on HSOLA.
